JLP is founded by Athens based Greek Australian John Lira Provatos, a graduate of Melbourne’s NMIT with a Diploma of arts and Design /Illustration.
From a very young age John showed an interest in fashion as he was always fascinated by his mother, a self taught seamstress and her ability to create. He was an avid collector of European fashion magazines back in the 90’s and his fashion illustrations were a dead give away he would springboard in that direction someday. Being highly influenced by the music, art and photography of the 80’s and 90’s era was what led him to design his first line of Sweatshirts and T-shirts.
The use of Greek letters and words printed on his garments is a testament to his love and connection with his motherland.
